POSITION VACANT:
FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST WITH NORTH DUBLIN REGIONAL DRUG AND ALCOHOL
TASK FORCE

Context: NDRDATF co-ordinates and provides services to people who are
concerned about their own substance use, family members who are
impacted by another’s substance use and the wider community.
Offering support to family members is key to good outcomes for
clients, families and the community. NDRDATF is now recruiting a
Family Support Specialist to lead on the family support programme.

ROLE: 

To lead the delivery of evidence informed supports for family members
and children impacted by hidden harm of some else’s alcohol and /or
drug use.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

* To provide formal assessment, key working, case management and
care plan development supports to family members who are impacted by
familial/significant others problem drug & alcohol use.
* Build relationships & work formally with service providers and
local community stakeholders to support families& children impacted by
drug or alcohol use.
* Identify potential gaps to support families in North County Dublin
and problem solve in conjunction with other services.
* Deliver evidence based interventions directly to family members.
* Record client information using paper & electronic systems.
* Build a rapport with service users and advocate where appropriate
identify models of best practice in relation to family support to
develop statistical/data and other reports .
* To line manage Family Support Workers and other staff associated
with the Task Force’s Family Support Service support the North
Dublin Regional Drug & Alcohol task force to respond to strategic
priorities for the area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* 3rd level qualification in a related field.
* 3 years+ frontline experience of working with families in a
similar setting.
* Open and innovative approach to work.
* Experience of interagency working in a similar setting.
* Working knowledge and experience of broad range of evidence based
interventions including 5 step intervention.
* Understanding of care plan development and formal assessment.
* Excellent communication skills & team work.
* Leadership skills Excellent administration and report writing
skills.
* Proven record of working to a client centred non-judgmental ethos
and understanding of stigma, shame and barriers to help seeking.

DESIRABLE:

* Training/accreditation in 5 Step, CRAFT & similar interventions.
* Knowledge of family programmes such as Triple P, SFP, parenting
plus etc.
* Experience of group facilitation.
* Experience of training delivery & workshop planning.

Salary scale: linked to HSE Clerical VI € *
per annum.
